Pensioners' Association Chairman criticises Government: Most banal way of growing pensions before elections

Nijazi Gashi, chairman of the Association of Pensioners of Kosovo, has said the Government's decision to raise pensions by 20 percent has been an unpleasant surprise to them. He says the decision does not match what pensioners deserve and what inflation is in our country.
The government's decision has been met with an unpleasant surprise, because they haven't given us a 20 percent chance of what we deserve to be given, because you know how much inflation has been going on since 2020 until now, and these have not taken into account in the past few years of inflation and have only increased 20 percent, which is not enough simply to be called pension hikes<1>, he says.
According to Gashi, with this increase, pensioners can buy 40 more bread a month.
“We have kept an evidence of the life cost index in progress and unfortunately it has been quite large and so far, according to the years that inflation has occurred, we now have inflation close to 100 or 120 percent and these have only increased our pensions 20 percent that is not enough. Basic pensions have been 100 euros, now there are 120 euros, and improving the standard if we convert it to bread, pensioners can buy 40 more bread per month”, he says. Blic newspaper.
The chairman of the Pensioners' Association, the increase in pensions has had to become 120 percent, causing a basic pension to be 220 euros.
The basic option has had to be around 220 uro, had to grow 120 percent, and these only increased 20 percent, while school - preparation pensions have had to be around 450, and those with higher school preparation had to be 500-550 euros”, he estimates.
While, in terms of the fact that pension growth took place a few months before the elections, Gashi says our government has done it the most banal way.
And this is what children in burning know, that before elections governments all over the world are growing, but in the most banal way, they are making our government”, Nijazi Gashi declares.
