The president of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, said that the Republic of Kosovo for these 16 years of its existence and 15 years of founding of the Constitutional Court has provided an extraordinary example of rule of law.
Osmani at the international conference organised on the topic: “Evolutions in contemporary constitutional justice ʹ the example of the Balkan region”, said the experiences of constitutional courts are good for each judge in a given case.
The court in Kosovo has set a good example in rule of law. Establishing this forum will increase the co-operation of constitutional courts in defence and guaranteeing human rights and freedoms. Our institutions remain committed to the fundamental principles of democracy, rule of law and guaranteeing human rights”, Osmani said.
Our state's “Constitution is huge historical twists. The challenges of constitutional courts in the Balkans are being discussed here, and I am happy that they are taking place in Pristina. I hope this event identified the challenges and inspired us for co-operation that strengthens our common values”, said Gresa Caka-Niman, chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo.
Otherwise, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo is host to the Second Annual Meeting of the Balkan Constitutional Court Forum, the quality of one of the founding members and equal rights of this international professional constitutional justice forum.
The first anniversary of the establishment of the Balkan Constitutional Court Forum is marked through several activities.
The conference will continue works with two sessions, with the representatives of the European Union's Court of Human Rights, the Venice Commission and the World Court of Lawyers' Constitutional Court among the main speakers.
The Balkan Constitutional Courts Forum, founded on October 27, 1923, brings together the Constitutional Court of Kosovo, Albania, Bulgaria, Northern Macedonia, Montenegro, and Turkey about common values of democracy, rule of law and protection of human rights.
This professional forum has been established in order to reinforce co-operation between the region's constitutional courts and serve as a platform of discussion and exchange of experiences on constitutional justice. / RTK/
