In Kosovo Specialised Chambers ( The DPS has returned to The Hague to continue witnessing witness Nuredin Ibishi, who has been asked about Enver Sekiraq, who he said knows is fugitive from justice in Kosovo.
While, during the hearing, it was hinted that Enver Sekiraqa had declared himself banned during the period envisioned in the indictment, reports “The Justice Vow <x0).
Ibishi claimed that for the SPS during the preparation hearing he said he recognised Enver Sekiraq as a troubled person since the 1990s and that he is in prison due to a criminal sentence.
Jakup Krasniqi's lawyer, Shymala Alagedra, asked the witness whether the case is linked to the police murder case, Triumf Riza, but that the witness response was not heard.
On the other hand, the witness was asked whether he knew there was news that Enver Sekiraqa escaped at the time he was in the prepared hearing with the SPS.
That's right. I think he's a fugitive”, Ibishi said.
Then, Shyamala introduced the witness to an article in a media that was published in 2010 after Sekiraqa received a 2007 prison sentence.
“According to this article from ... Enver Sekiraqa was considered the main figure of organised crime in Kosovo living in Ireland which was already on Interpol's list of fugitives. And according to this article, he is said to have been sentenced to 36 years in prison”, Shymala said.
The Witness said that he cannot qualify him as a wanted person for organized crime, since it is a matter of justice.
Afterward, lawyer Shyamala requested that three articles on Enver Sekiraqa be accepted in material evidence. But Judge Gwenel Mettraux intervened.
Before we do this, what is the goal? Are you telling us Enver Sekiraqa is a bad person and we shouldn't believe anything he said about his prevention, his imprisonment and all this stuff?
These articles confirm that he has escaped from jurisdiction”, Shyamala said.
Mettraux told the lawyer that it wasn't this thing you're asking, but why this information is important in these articles.
Because it's about credibility, so Mr. Sekiraqa”'s credibility, Shyala said.
We remember that the Constitutional Court had allowed Enver Sekiraqa to defend freedom after being convicted and sentenced to 25 years in prison for inciting the murder of police officer Triumf Riza. But after Apel's decision on May 18, 2024 Enver Sekiraqa has not returned to custody but has managed to escape. The police had not found the same one at home and kept on fleeing.
Prosecutor Sylvia Déscoli said she opposes accepting these documents because they do not understand why they are useful to the tribunal.
The chairman of the court, Charles Smith III, said that the court will decide on another case regarding these documents and will until then be given identification numbers.
First, Smith gave three oral orders. The first was to reclassify as confidential to an order given to the court along with translations.
And for the second order, he said it had to do with a document that had no objections but that had no translations. He said that since translations have been delivered and that there is no objection to these documents will be accepted.
The prosecutor demanded that these documents be added a revised translation, which was accepted.
The third order also involved a court order given on October 24, 2024 for accepting documents that have been submitted by the protection of victims to be admitted.
The judge said Veselin and Thaci's defences have rejected the acceptance of these documents, but that the court has concluded that this document is important and authentic, accepting it as evidence.
Otherwise, at the beginning of the second half of the session, Smith said that Thaci's lawyer, Luka Misethic, is also present through the video link.
