The Democratic League of Kosovo through a media report has said that by January 2025, taxes on property will double and triple. The LDK says it is concerned about changes made to the Law on Property Tax adopted by the Vetevendosje Movement.
According to the LDK, changes in the law also envision taxation for cultivated agricultural lands, further burdening the burden on citizens, businesses and farmers.
“This change poses an obstacle to economic development and private sector growth in our country”, says the LDK response.
The LDK says that if the future government is run by Lumirdziku, such a law will be revised to ensure that citizens do not pay more dearly.
Full response:
By January 2025, businesses double and triple property taxes.
The Democratic League of Kosovo expresses its concern for recent changes to the Property Tax Law adopted by the current government. The new law represents a twofold progressive property tax rate and envisions taxation for cultivated agricultural lands, further burdening the burden on citizens, businesses and farmers. This change poses an obstacle to economic development and private sector growth in our country.
The next government, led by Lumir Abdixhiku, will review the Property Tax Law, ensuring that citizens do not pay a double progressive property tax rate. We will restore the previous practice, where property taxes are based on the value of the property market, where naturally those who have higher value pay more, while those with lower value properties pay less. Moreover, the Democratic League of Kosovo guarantees that no one will pay taxes for the hard-working lands, helping farmers and encouraging agriculture development.
The future government, led by the Democratic League of Kosovo with Prime Minister Lumir Abdixhiku, will create policies that support growth and business development, eliminating unnecessary barriers and providing real opportunities for progress in the economy and beyond. Through a fair and fair approach, we will ensure that the economy develops in behalf of the welfare and prosperity of our country.
