The president of the European Commission (KE), Ursula Von der Leenen, has expressed interest in the idea of “returns centres” outside the European Union (BE), including Western Balkan countries, for migrants seeking asylum. But, Prime Minister Kurti has ruled out the possibility of adopting a similar plan of Italy and Albania.
“A temporary admission of refugees, if required emergency, is certainly always possible, the head of the Kosovo executive has declared, rejecting the idea of imitating the Italian model, because, based on his view, these centres will “fold both the consciences of Balkan and EU citizens”.
Prime Minister Kurti has welcomed Von der Leyen's commitment to the accelerated integration of Western Balkan countries into the EU. “Making priority enlargement is the best response to those seeking to destroy Europe's security and unity”, he has stressed, while it has been banned in problems with Serbia.
The key “that co-operation between EU states and Serbia is not done at the expense of democracy in this country or security in the Western Balkans”, he has added. “Finance and Germany téria make clear to Serbia that economic co-operation means license to violate human rights and molest neighbours”.
As for the situation in the northern part of Kosovo, Prime Minister Kurti has underlined: “I fight crime that destroys Serb areas in the north and we have already closed 18 illegal ways”, he has explained. If someone had expected that when I became prime minister they would continue these illegal ways, then they didn't really recognize me”.
