Speaking at the COSAC plenary session in Budapest of Hunagri, Krasniqi stressed the urgency for concrete action by the EU, considering the country needs clear support to move forward on the path towards European integration.
We want to express our deep gratitude to your country, especially for the presence of military troops within KFOR and their contribution to ensuring a peaceful and secure environment for all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo. The state of Kosovo expects this presidency will pave the way for achieving an integrated European perspective for our country. This can only be realised if the EU takes decisive action on Kosovo by removing sanctions imposed a year ago and granting EU membership candidate status”, Krasniqi said in her address.
Krasniqi stressed that Kosovo's EU integration will be crucial to the country's economic and political stability and for the security of the region, preventing the destabilising effects of foreign actors like Russia and China.
Kosovo's “perspective in the European Union primarily brings improved economic and political stability. It proves the growth of the common market, and especially avoids the risk of destabilisation within the region. However, it is essential not to underestimate the importance of external interventions, especially those from Russia and China. It reminds me of a Benjamin Franklin saying. “Watch out for small expenditures, a small leak can sink a large ship”, Krasniqi further confirmed.
