Analysts in Serbia say politicians received messages from the Berlin Summit “Process”, especially those of Kosovo and Serbia, which should work for normalisation of relations between the two countries.
According to them, meetings between the parties must take place in order to finalise this agreement.
After sending the message to normalise Kosovo-Serbia relations under the Berlin Process, analysts stress the need for a different, less bureaucratic approach.
Analyst Dusan Janjic, founder of the Forum for Ethnic Relations in Belgrade, recalls the importance of the Ohrid Agreement, which has been reached on the basis of the Franco-German proposal.
He stresses that realising this agreement is essential, but also a clear European perspective for Kosovo and Serbia.
“Co-operation between Serbia and Kosovo within the EU must be principle. Political difficulties about recognition are not necessary, because with EU membership, this process ends. All together in NATO and the EU”, Janjic told RTK.
However, he adds, nothing has been done so far for the realisation of the agreement, which causes concern.
According to part of the pro-European opposition, even though under the Berlin Process has been called for normalisation of relations, there is no readiness by both sides to engage deeply in this process.
According to Nathan Albahari of the Free Citizens Movement, any meeting of Kosovo and Serbia representatives is a positive development, but an additional step is needed.

In terms of the Brussels dialogue process, as well as recent meetings under the Berlin Process, experts stress that, despite technical and economic successes, the main bilateral political issues remain unresolved, which continue to create tensions in the Western Balkan region. /rtk/
