Besides “gayles” for planting and harvesting of land, Government Kurti has decided to make life more difficult for farmers. Now Kosovo farmers will also be touched by wallets. From this year they will pay taxes on agricultural land under the Law for Tax on the Albanian Property. The decision, which had been changed by the Government of Kosovo, exactly by Finance Minister Iron Murati in 2023 now obliges farmers to pay up to 300 euros per hectare of land. This does not apply to residents in northern municipalities, however, writes Periscope.

The decision has also been criticised by the director of the Kosovo Commission Association, Saban Ibrahimi, who said that by this decision farmers will be charged, while the fact that this law will not be implemented in the northern municipalities of the controversial “ ”.

“Of course it's gonna be an extra shipment for farmers. What is strange, this law will be implemented for all municipalities, except in municipalities in the northern part of the Republic of Kosovo. Laws must be implemented in the entire territory of the Republic of Kosovo, rather than be implemented independently. Of course this will be a new burden to Kosovo farmers”, Ibrahim said.

The price of taxes on property is high for Kosovo farmers, Agriculture Professor Imer Rusinovac has confirmed. He in a proposal for Periscope said it does not guarantee sustainable agricultural development.

I think the property tax issue is mandatory and they do it all, but it's a high dilemma that probably didn't have to go high stop for farmers who today are discouraged and demotivated. It means that if they are stimulated for many agricultural products from strategic cultures from wheat to intensive products, then property taxes should be maintained as criterion. As a rule. But I think they're a little high for farmers who in a society have to be the most respected layer because their goal is always human, to produce food. High property taxes at the moment do not guarantee sustainable agricultural development, and some of the farmers may be discouraged and demotivated. Perhaps a glimpse was needed from low rates and along with the rise of their domestic gross production to add them in the future because I think it's high”, Rusinovac told Periscope.

While for the part of northern municipalities not obliged to pay taxes on property, Russia said it is political issues.

“The question of the northern part is political issue, I think it's not fair, but it's just a problem of character of political nature”, he said.

And the chairman of the Kosovo Federation of Agriculture, Tahir Tahiri, does not consider this a problem, saying there is no complaint from farmers either. Tahiri, who is known as a supporter of Vetevendosje, said that “tation should be paid and the federation supports this”.

The “Buyks are all of the reconciliation with property tax because it's always paid, but after the war because of circumstances and war damages there is tolerance in this respect now is the moment that farmers pay taxes. We as unions still haven't received any confirmation of what the criteria are, so we're waiting even though some farmers have received their bills no complaints. Otherwise everyone else has no remarks. To be honest, most farmers don't have a good economic situation, they don't have much profit from agricultural productivity, maybe even what's added to it, but no matter what the tart is paid. We as the federation have supported it, and we have no information on the criteria, as much as it costs 1 hecar of the first grade, 2”, he told Periscope. / P ERISCOPIA
