Former Kosovo Prime Minister and Alliance for the Future of Kosovo Chairman Ramush Haradinaj has praised that the Progress Report has indicated the impact Prime Minister Albin Kurti has had during his rule.

Haradinaj, via a writing on the social network Facebook was said to have Kurt removed from government every day to a national obligation for all of us.

The Progress Report, as expected, reflects largely the corruption of the governing system in Kosovo and the removal of the country from all processes that point to the European Union”.

This appears in violation of parliamentary democracy, media interventions, sabotage of the justice system, procurement defects, and in almost every area of life”, Haradinaj wrote.

Among other things, he has said the executive leader has distanced Kosovo from even the processes that make it a NATO member.

“in the last four years, Kurti removed and sabotaged Kosovo from the processes that make it a NATO member. With this report it is seen that all of its agenda is the removal of Kosovo from all Euro-Atlantic integration”.

What does the Progress Report on Kosovo say?

The Kosovo European Commission's progress report has been criticised by the Government of Kosovo for actions in the four northern municipalities, until the attack on Zvecan Banjsk over the past year has been named as the worst “escalation in recent years”.

Other <x0) crisis was caused by issues related to the expropriation of lands from Government to the north; by the adoption of a Kosovo Central Bank regulation on cash transactions, which negatively affected Kosovo Serbs and other non-semible communities; by police operations for closing the offices of institutions run by Belgrade, providing assistance to non-combat communities; and by the continuing ban on import of Serbian-born goods”, the report reported.

The report also notes that the situation between Kosovo and Serbia has remained tense, even though there has been progress in normalising relations between them.

The visible “Achieves include historic agreements agreed on in February and March, 2023 [for normalisation of relations], feasibility steps in establishing the Association/United Commissions with the Serb Majority in Kosovo, advances in the energy sector, and pledges to address the issue of unsurgecuted persons” are said further in the report.

The Progress Report for 2024 in Kosovo has also estimated that the government led by Prime Minister Albin Kurti has made efforts to exercise control over the media.

However, this was accompanied by perceived developments as the government's attempt to exercise control over the media,” said in the media report's part.

The report mentions that Kosovo's Assembly has not taken into account most of the European Union's recommendations regarding the Law for Independent Media Council.

According to him, Kosovo has noted progress in fighting organised crime, while the country's business environment has improved.

In this document, Kosovo is encouraged to intensify its efforts to strengthen rule of law and public administration, as well as protect freedom of expression.

While remembering that Kosovo has surrendered EU membership application in December 2022, the report stresses that the Commission is willing to prepare an opinion on its application when such is required by the Council.

It remembers that holders of biometric passports in Kosovo enjoy the visa-free travel regime towards the EU, as of January 1st of this year, while by October, the same rights are held by Serbia's passport owners, which is issued by the Serbian Co-ordination Directorate.
