Through a television statement, Al-Hayaa, reiterated Hamas' stance that he would not free Israeli hostages who were caught during the October 7th 2023 attack in southern Israel.
He said the hostages would not be released until a ceasefire for the Gaza war is reached.
These prisoners will not return until there is end of the Gaza aggression and [Israelian army] withdraw from Gaza”, he said.
Sinwar, named architect of the October 7th 2023 attack that sparked the war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas, was killed in southern Gaza by an Israeli attack on October 17th.
Sinwar was elected leader of the group after the assassination of Ishmael Haneyeh in July in an alleged Israeli attack on the Iranian capital, Tehran.
Before taking the leadership of Hamas, Sinwar had led the group's armed arm.
Otherwise, during the October 7th attack last year, Hamas killed some 1,200 people in most civilians in southern Israel and kidnapped about 250 others. As a result of the Israeli offensive, more than 42,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza. / REL
