German MP: If Serbia wants EU, it should recognise Kosovo

German MP and rapporteur for Kosovo in Bundestag, Thomas Hacker, describes the Berlin process as a major success, while thanking Kosovo for unblocking the CEFTA agreement. The Berlin Process's “Sam was a major success. We managed to unblock the CEFTA Agreement among six members, six Western Balkan states for Free Trade. This was postponed year after year, and now they finally agreed. I think it was really a big success and I'm grateful to the Government of Kosovo, especially which in the end made it possible to open the way for an important” deal, said Hacker.
As far as dialogue is concerned, Hacker estimates that a new approach is needed and that Lajcak has not been fair. According to him, the measures against Kosovo are unfair and should be removed immediately.
Criticising what he views as Serbia's undemocratic and harmful actions, the German MP says that to enter the EU, the country must recognise Kosovo.
“Actually on the road to Kosovo and Serbia's EU integration, this bilate dialogue is one of the most important things. We have had many attempts to solve problems, remove obstacles, but as long as we always keep going back. Therefore, a new start of dialogue is needed. We have seen agreements Vuciq has considered valid without signing, and half an hour later has said the agreement is against his country's constitution. We will now have a new envoy for dialogue. Miroslav Lajcak leaves early next year. I think we have the opportunity for a new beginning of dialogue. In recent months, Lajcak was no longer considered a fair mediator. Now I hope we have one of these”, Hacker told A2Con.
