The EU's dandy policy towards Serbia has failed, assessing the German politician in a recent analysis.
Alexander Rhotert, expert on developments in the region, in a recent article for the German newspaper “Tageszeitung” on tensions in the Western Balkans, has considered the European Union (BE) to be ignoring Serbia's president's growing aggression, Aleksandar Vuciq, towards regional neighbours, especially Kosovo.
The EU has learned nothing from Balkan wars, Rhotert estimates.
He adds that leading European states Germany and France ignore the fact that Serbia constantly threatens its neighbours, while strengthening its ties with Russia.
Rwatert has cited interventions by the United States (SHBA) to avoid fighting in the region.
“Although the US is taking half-hearted action against the plans of Great Serbia, without the intervention in Kosovo by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, in October 2023 and Bosnia in August 2024 by American Intelligence Director (CIA), William Burns, probably now there would be three wars in Europe”.
A war scenario -- potentially dangerous -- continues to be mentioned by Serbia: Kosovo.
Serbs living there are allegedly being oppressed. This rhetoric was used in the late 1980s by Vuciqi mentor then Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic to prepare the population for aggression against other peoples, he recalls.
“Vucciq has brought a number of Milosevic's former associates back to power to complete the then failed project of Greater Serbia... If the EU does not want to experience another failure, it must learn lessons from Serbia's failed toleration policy in the 1990s”, the German politician concludes.
