The US criticises Serbia for aiming to try crimes in Kosovo: We support territorial integrity and Kosovo sovereignty

The US State Department said it agrees with the European Union that Serbia has violated obligations from the Brussels dialogue, adopting the draft judicial jurisdiction law in Kosovo and declaring Kosovo “zone of special social protection”. “
“UN for Radio Free Europe.
Washington said dialogue on normalising reports between Kosovo and Serbia, mediated by the EU, has developed practical solutions promoting the rights of Kosovo citizens, including Serbs living in northern Kosovo.
This key must be implemented. We call on Kosovo and Serbia to implement, without delay, the pledges they have made in the 2023 Agreement on the road to normalisation of reports, including the establishment of an association of Serb majority municipalities”, the UN spokesman said.
A day earlier, the EU criticised Serbia for the law adopted earlier this week by Serbia, aimed at pursuing criminal acts committed on Kosovo territory.
Law Serbia's Government nominated to Serbian Parliament for Adoption October 28,, envisions judgments for all previous crimes with this country's Criminal Code, which were committed after Kosovo's declaration of independence in February 2008.
This law was said to also apply to criminal procedures initiated prior to its adoption.
The chief of the Office for Kosovo in the Serbian Government, Petar Petkovovic, said the laws are response, so, as he put it, <x0 Serbian people's impression of the Pristina regime and lack of visible actions by the EU mission, EULEX”
He also said that “if there were rule of law in Kosovo and if Serbs had any legal security”, then the law proposed by the Government in Belgrade would not be necessary”.
Even Kosovo has criticised this legislation of Serbia, and Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislim has accused Belgrade of violating dialogue agreements and violating sovereignty and territorial integrity with these bills.
Kosovo and Serbia have reached agreement on the judiciary in 2015 and 2017 and have agreed to its implementation and the integration of Kosovo Serbs into Kosovo's justice institutions.
But hundreds of members of the Serb community in the north resigned from Kosovo institutions, including municipalities, police, courts and prosecutors, in November 2022, as a sign of dissatisfaction with some decisions of the Government of Kosovo.
During this year, the Government of Kosovo took several steps like removing the Serbian dinar from using and closing Serb parallel structures in an effort to expand its authority in the north.
This prompted official Belgrade to announce in September that it will establish the special prosecutor for Kosovo territory, as a measure for the protection of “the vital national interests of the Serbian people” in Kosovo.
Meanwhile, Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, has presented several measures for Kosovo earlier this week, saying that the special prosecution and separate judicial rooms would persecute all those participating in the persecution of the Serb population” in Kosovo. /Radio Europe Free
