Pristina Deputy Chairman Alban Zogaj, invited to Reel Talk's show with Maxun in Periscopi, spoke of the municipality's strategy for avoiding numerous columns in the capital -- a problem that is very pronounced.
Zogaj mentioned there are over 150,000 cars that enter the capital from other municipalities and that this number exceeds the capacity of cars that Pristina can afford.
Pristina's deputy chairman added that they are working intensively to tame the columns and cited the three major projects in which they are working.
We measure with the citizens of Pristina when we ask them what are the biggest problems you have, three of us constantly. Traffic, garbage collection and their management and stray dogs. We deal very seriously with these three problems. The problem with the columns is very complex. Citizens of Pristina should know that 150 thousand cars enter the capital from outside every day. It's a huge influx of cars for a town that doesn't handle this large number of cars. The new exit on the bridge in Lakrisha gives us a new access to the Arberia lagoon, but also for the entire exit to Mitrovica and Podujevo”, Zogaj says.
Zogaj said that with a dynamic plan this bridge would have to be accomplished by the end of this year (2024), “in all projects we are behind delays and impasses, private firms that are winning contracts have a lack of capacity and resources”.
He added that the one-sided road would ease many problems in communications.
Zogaj added that one of the next projects is the addition of buses to avoid overloading cars.
The deputy mayor also mentioned building A Street.
“We are investing heavily and is one of Pristina's largest capital projects. It is close to the end of the first phase, which starts from American Hospital to Street B and is expected to be completed over the next year.
Zogaj added that for the A Street they are facing various blockades, such as the Commercial Court and property blockades.
