The World Bank says most economies of six Western Balkan countries experienced moderate economic growth this year.
While this solid growth is reportedly promoting employment in the region, the World Bank shows that Kosovo has the lowest number of employees.
In Kosovo, despite the recent benefits, it is estimated that only 37.1 per cent of the working age population is employed”, said the report published by the World Bank today, titled “The Save of Growth Ritation”.

Employment rates in other countries of the region (over 15-year-olds capable of work) according to the report, have marked great improvement, reaching 48.5 per cent this year, which the World Bank calls “historic resolution”.
The World Bank explains that “is narrowing the” gap compared to the employment rate in EU member states, but in this respect growth is not uniform in all countries.
While Kosovo has the lowest number of employees in Albania, at the end of 2023, the employment rate was 66.7%.
The World Bank says that in Albania and Montenegro, the employment rate has exceeded that of EU member states (54.4%).
Between 2023 and mid-2024, the report says that 114,000 additional jobs were created in the region, of which Serbia saw the largest nominal profits (48,400), followed by Bosnia and Herzegovina (392,000).
However, the WB says that a <x0 burden on the labour market has led to increased concerns among businesses, citing labour power shortages and skills incompatibilities”.
