1 out of 4 individuals from the Western Balkans currently lives abroad.
That is how it is made known in the World Bank's regular economic report on the Western Balkans.
According to the report, although immigration can bring challenges, such as lack of labour force in the country, it can also create clear opportunities regarding the use of immigration for economic benefits, writes Tvclean.al.
The World Bank says that if effectively managed, migration could positively influence poverty reduction, promotion of exports and absorption of investments, resulting in job creation and knowledge transfer.
“Remits can improve financial resources for immigrant families. Second, the return of qualified immigrants can bring a “brain conversion to their countries of origin, while the lure from higher wages abroad can motivate education and increased skills for those who decide to stay”.
