Arrest a security worker for EULEX, IPK recommends suspension of three police officers

Kosovo's police inspector has recommended the suspension of three police officials after allegedly mistreating a EULEX security worker during arrest and association following an incident related to parking a private car.

According to the Inspectorate, EULEX employee was on duty to secure EULEX autoparking.

The IPK said that they were informed Thursday morning, while police officials are suspected of mistreatment during the exercise of official office or public authorisations.

“Based in investigative actions that have been undertaken so far, police officials have allegedly arrested and accompanied a citizen (the EULEX Mission Security Officer) following an incident related to parking with a private car (which was running a police official) prior to the EULEX Mission parking lot entrance near the local football stadium {Fadil Vokri possibly in Pristina. The EULEX Mission Security Company was on duty to secure EULEX auto-parking cars at the time of the incident. Once IPK investigators have accepted information, several initial investigative actions have been taken in continued consultation with the competent prosecutor, who has also appeared at the site of the” event, the IPK communiqué to the media says.

The IPK said they would take other actions to clear up this incident.

Kosovo Police Inspectorate, respectively, investigators from the IPK Investigations Department have been informed by Kosovo Police today after 0800 in connection with a case allegedly involving several police officials of the Fast Response Unit at the Regional Directorate in Pristina.

Given the investigative actions that have been undertaken so far, police officials have allegedly arrested and accompanied a citizen (the EULEX Mission Security Officer) following an incident related to parking a private car (which was running a police official) prior to the EULEX Mission parking lot's entry near the “Fakdil Vokri” in Pristina.

The EULEX Mission Security Company was on duty to secure EULEX auto-parking cars at the time of the incident.

Upon accepting information, IPK investigators have appeared at the scene and have taken some initial investigative actions in continued consultation with the competent prosecutor, who has also appeared at the scene.

Given these initial investigative actions, the suspicion that officials involved in this case have committed criminal work “Mishandling while running official duty or public authorization”, The IPK in interest of the investigation has recommended the suspension of the three police officials of the Speed Response Unit at the Regional Directorate in Pristina.

IPK investigators in co-ordination with the State Prosecutor will continue to take other investigative actions towards full enlightenment of all the circumstances related to the case.
