The arrest of Kosovo citizens in Serbia, MPJ: We have announced diplomatic missions

Also in the report, concerning this statement, the Kosovo Liaison Office in Belgrade has reportedly asked the Serbian Liaison Office in Pristina to confirm the veracity of the case of arrest and to provide relevant information, including the full identity of the arrested person, the arrest circumstances and location of where he is currently being held.

Also, MPJD in this case has reportedly also announced diplomatic missions of the Serbia-accredited Quint countries, as well as the European Union Delegation in Belgrade.

The MPJD has also reportedly announced diplomatic missions of Kosovo-accredited countries and the European Union Delegation over the case.

The report also reportedly also reportedly that European diplomatic missions have been announced for stopping Kosovo police official from the Serbian police at the point of crossing the Merdar, where he was released after several hours.

Serbian media have today followed Serbia's Interior Minister Ivica Dacic's statement, under which Serbia's police today, Saturday, October 12th 2024, at 6am, at the Serbia-Hungari border crossing in Horgosch, have arrested the person with the M.I. initials, a citizen of the Republic of Kosovo, under charges of allegedly war crimes against the non-Albanian population during the 1999 Kosovo war.

The Serbian interior minister claims in his statement that the case has to do with the alleged kidnapping of a married couple of Serbian ethnicity in Pristina by MlI. in June 1999, which was then sent to an improvised prison where physical and psychological violence were subjected.

Kosovo citizen M.I. Police bodies have pronounced the move of 48 hours' detention, while it is said that after this period he will be handed over to the Belgrade War Crimes Prosecutor for further procedures.

Also today, around 8:00am, a member of the Kosovo Police was detained and questioned by Serbian border police at the Merdare border point while traveling by bus across Serbia towards the Federal Republic of Germany. After a few hours stop, Mr. Berisha was released and is continuing on his journey to Germany.

Regarding these cases, the Interconnecting Office of the Republic of Kosovo in Serbia has reacted immediately by sending an official request to Serbia's Liaison Office in Kosovo to confirm the authenticity of the arrest case and to provide relevant information, including the full identity of the arrested person, the arrest circumstances and the current location he is being held.

Diplomatic missions of the countries of Quant accredited Serbia have also been announced on the issue, as well as the European Union Delegation to Serbia. At the same time, Kosovo's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspore has announced diplomatic missions of Kosovo-accredited Quint countries and the European Union Delegation.

The institutions of the Republic of Kosovo are closely following this case and will be kept informed about other details.
