The number of nurses leaving Kosovo has dropped sharply this year, though that number is expected to increase by next year. In the Kosovo Infermies' Oda, 275 nurses have requested unplundered licenses, while 108 have requested the Ethical Code that serves for employment in Western countries.
Leaving the country is also searching through companies that deal with recruiting them.
OIC Mayor Nexmije Gori says the number of applications compared to past years is on the decline, except the risk of this number increasing from next year.
“Sic is reported that in the House of Nurses, Moms and Other Health Professionals each day, unplastic licenses and confirmations of the Ethical Code are withdrawn. From January to October, we have the withdrawal of the Ethical Code confirmations of a total of 108, while unplacted licenses are 275”, Gori says.
Gori says nurses have chosen another way out of the country. Besides companies, nurses have direct contact with health institutions there.
The number is currently declining, considering that already with visa liberalisation, most nurses have contact with health institutions there, they have it directly. Now they don't circulate through agencies to arrange documentation or things that you need, so I expect that in 2025, the number has been markedly increasing because nurses are now preparing. We know that now you need both language and contract, of course next year has a visible increase. Of course it is because most nurses now only in procedures according to the information we possess, and in 2025 they complete these procedures and start to develop their profession there”, Gori says.
The OIK chairman says the Law of the Salaries has also spread further the discontent of nurses. Therefore, it hopes that this will be reflected by responsible institutions.
“With the Law of Salaries, I've been very optimistic, but the current law, nurses, midwives and other health professionals did not promote them to their rightful place, so I expect that there will be improvements and of course, pay raise is a motive because they are leaving the country for a salary of a better (4)x1>, Gori told EO.
