So says a report released Monday by the war cost project at Brown University.
According to the report, whose publication coincides with the anniversary of Hamas' attack on southern Israel, US military aid led to the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.
Another $4.86 billion has been spent on increased military operations in the United States since the October 7th 2023 attacks, researchers involved in drafting this report, which they shared with the Associated Press news agency.
That includes operations costs led by the US Navy to curb attacks on cargo ships from the Huthi group's rebels in Yemen, who say they are attacking ships to express solidarity with Hamas.
These two organisations, which the United States has declared terrorist, are supported by Iran.
