Zeqiri has said that demands by the Serbian community for municipal services have recently been added.
We don't have any information about the development of a petition, but every day, we still have a lot of citizen requests for different jobs and services. It seems that citizens, I'm talking about the Serb majority, are interested in employment and development and assistance in different forms rather than petitions. I think the petition will not succeed and fail in this direction”, Zeqiri said at RTV Dukajini.
The petition government, however, is viewed as the only way for the mayors to leave the north.
Local Power Management Minister Elbert Krasniqi, in connection with the process of the citizens' initiative in northern municipalities for the removal of the mayors, had said several days ago that the petition is considered the only democratic way for them to leave before the mandate ends.
“We have said that the departure of the mayors can occur through processes and democratic methods, we have considered the petition as the only democratic method for the departure of the mayors before the deadline for completion of their mandate. Considering the political situation, the small participation of citizens in the northern elections, I also believe that if the petition is successful, whether or not the mayor's resignation is organised, if the citizens of those municipalities vote that 50 percent plus one voter is for the removal of the mayors, then surely there will be elections under the law for local elections”, Krasniqi has declared.
