Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on the West to be united in providing support to Ukraine as it faces Russia's nearly two-year war.
He has called on Kiev allies to help this country create air superiority against Moscow so that it can ensure victory in the battlefield, writes the REL.
“should have air superiority for Ukraine”, Zelensky said at the Davos Economic Forum.
As we have achieved superiority in the Black Sea, we can do this. This will enable progress on the ground... partners know what to do and in what quality”, Zelensky said.
He has said earlier that there is a need for increased air capabilities for protection, as he spoke with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg on 16 January, in Davos, and has held meetings with European Commission President Ursula von der Lejen.
“Ukraine approaches the start of membership talks with the European Union, we have agreed to take an additional step towards launching analysis of Ukraine's” legislation, Zelensky said on the X, the platform previously known as Twitter, after meeting with the EU chief.
Before Zelensky's speech, von der Leyen has told participants in Davos that although Ukraine can win the war, “we must continue to strengthen its resistance”.
“Ukrains need predictable finances over 2024 and beyond. They need sufficient weapons supplies to protect Ukraine and to restore the right to their territory”, it added.
Ukraine has been the target of a series of Russian intensive attacks from the start of the war.
The Ukrainian leader has recently held several meetings around the world to increase support for Ukraine, following the fall of readiness in several capitals to allocate funds to Kiev.
Russia's full war in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022.
Russian President Vladimir Putin calls war <x0 military special operation” to demilitarise Ukraine.
The West has responded to Russia, striking the economy of this state with severe sanctions.
As a result of the war, thousands have died, and millions of others have been displaced from their homes.
