Irish Prime Minister Leo Vardkar has said he will back the Republic of Kosovo to become a member of the Council of Europe this year. Support, Vardkar has also promised membership in the European Union, reports Online Economy.
Varadkar has said that along with Prime Minister Albin Kurti they have held a constructive meeting and that the topic of discussion has been deepening relations between the two countries.
Varadkar declared that Kosovo's future is in the European Union.
“I will support Kosovo to become a member of the Council of Europe this year and launch the process of negotiations for membership in the European Union. Kosovo is showing commitment to European values. You also harmonised security policies with those of the EU that are very important”, he said.
He has added that dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade is vital to achieving a harmony and having a further development.
According to him, this year it is most important to consolidate this stability.
Varadkar has said restrictive measures against Kosovo must be lifted.
He has said that association must be done but should not have microstates within Kosovo.
