European Union for Foreign Policy and Security chief Josep Borrell has issued a statement, as Kosovo and Serbia are already allowing cars with state signs to circulate through the two countries.
He has said the European Union welcomes that decision.
Borrell has added that this is a positive step towards implementing the relationship for normalisation and past commitments.
“The EU welcomes Kosovo and Serbia's decisions to officially recognise each other's license plates and fully abolish the sticker regime. This decision is a positive step in implementing the Convention on the Way to Normalisation, as well as in the past commitments of Dialogue concerning Freedom of Movement. This decision shows that it is possible to achieve progress in advancing normalisation of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, and emphasises the importance of continuing to work within the EU-enlightened dialogue. This decision also represents a step in the right direction towards a better regional and European integration of the Western Balkans, which eventually benefits citizens of the region”, Borrell has said.
