Minister of Internal Affairs Jhelal Svecla has spoken to the Commission for Security for the Inflows of Kosovo Police and their demands for better working conditions.
Svechla said police discontent is addressing the Union, with which she said they hold regular meetings.
We are able to clarify all claims, but it does not mean that all demands and claims can be fulfilled. Kosovo is the poorest country in the region and Europe, and the requirements that may seem fair, should be seen what a budget burden falls. But at no time is there a tendency for one to be exploited, but all of them to be paid on the basis of work and contribution, so that the hand of the heart is a tremendous contribution. All police have been fully mobilised to fulfill the duties and obligations we have been given, and I believe that it is already evidence that these tasks are being completed in the best possible way”, Svechla said.
MEP Beka Berisha, the head of the Commission, asked the minister whether there will be additionals and other sustainable benefits for the police.
Considering what our northern neighbour has, emergencies will not be carried out soon. Serbia's aspirations are only continuing, but their concrete activities are also continuing at the mini-state of Kosovo. I don't expect these to be performed soon”, Svechla said initially.
In terms of privileges, I expect the situation not to improve but to rise. We are entering the process of determining expertise in police, as there are police who have special expertise and who must be classified differently than they have been classified so far. For those who don't know the differences at the KP, they've usually been between degrees and units, we'll move on to another positive difference where the difference will be made based on expertise. Not all police officers with the same degree have the same expertise or qualifications, and this should be considered”, Svechla said.
