According to this Court's calendar, from Tuesday to Friday, Peter Shala will appear before the court, until next week the trial will continue for former KLA leaders Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselin, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi.
Lawyer Amer Aliaj's monitor says this year will continue the same as the previous one, with the hearing of witnesses proposed by the Prosecutor, in the case against Thaci and others.
There will be more than 80 sessions in this year, especially in the case against Thaci and others, if we look at the calendar or sessions set up by July, then certainly we have other cases that are active, which are three cases for obstructing justice administration”, said Amer Aliaj lawyer.
Aliaj hopes that specialised rooms, this year, will be more transparent and with fewer editing sessions.
The same is said by accredited lawyer Artan Cerkini, who adds that in the first month of this year, the court will be able to decide about the case of Peter Shala, who is accused of war crimes.
There's no reason to crawl because the number of witnesses, it's not really big in these last three cases, and it's a real possibility that the judgment will be concluded within the year, and even the trial against Peter Shala is about to end and I believe that within this year and perhaps in the first half of this year we'll have an act on his case of”, Artan Cerkini úL said.
In fact, Cherkin says the court has to make a decision, as far as witnesses are concerned, because it's a big number, and their hearing will take a long time.
Even this year's “Even the court is likely to reduce the evidence framework to remove some witnesses because their number is too large and if all witnesses are heard, then seriously risk the practical implementation of the trial principle within a reasonable”, he added.
The Specialised Chambers have begun their winter break on December 18th, until after the death of one of Kadri Wessel's lawyers, the defence had been demanding weeks to replace the lawyer.
