Signing collection ends in northern Mitrovica, Chiefs surrender Monday

The signing gathering under the petition for the dismissal of North Mitrovica Chairman Erden Attic has ended.

According to member of the Initiator Group Sanja Kriniq, enough signatures have been collected.

“We are finished with the signature meeting and we have been working today until 4: 00 p.m. The processing of information and the number of signatures is developing”, she said.

According to Kossev (medium in the Serbian language in the north), Krinniq has not been able to confirm exactly how many signatures have been collected, but has said it is certain they are more than needed.

“I hope they will soon report to me how many have been signed, but we have exceeded the number”, she said.

Signings from this municipality, of 3640 voters, must be submitted to the chairman of the North Mitrovica Assembly through January 22nd.

The moon certainly has the final day of our deadline. I sincerely hope that there will be no more obstacles, because we did the job properly, without irregularities”, said Krinniq.

After handing in the petition with signatures, the chairman of the North Mitrovica Assembly has three days to forward it to the CEC, which then controls and examines them.

The next planned step is to organise a referendum to vote for the mayor's dismissal, which must be supported by 50 per cent plus 1 voters.

Ktrinic is sure that the referendum will be successful.

We wouldn't even have started this process if we didn't think we couldn't get it to the end of”, she stressed.

The collection of signatures for the dismissal of the North Mitrovica chairman has started Tuesday. On the same day, the process began in Leposaviq.

On the other hand, the process of collecting signatures for the dismissal of mayors in Zvecan and Zubin Potok has started today.
