For this reason, an important visit to Kosovo days ago was made by British Foreign Secretary David Cameron, where he met with Kosovo state leaders and British soldiers.
Former spokesman NATO, Jamie Shea, estimates that David Cameron's visit to Pristina proves once again that Britain strongly supports Kosovo.
The United Kingdom together with the United States and other Allied states expressed concern for the security situation in the region, especially in Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina. With his visit to Kosovo, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron testified that the United Kingdom strongly supports Kosovo's independence and territorial integrity, these were his clear messages. Following tragic events in Banjska, where Kosovo Police Sergeant Major General Banjska was killed, the United Kingdom was one of the first states to increase military presence in the country's north”, he has said.
For Tav1 former Deputy Secretary General NATO, Jamie Shea, says the Serbian president, Aleksandar Vuciq, is obligated to explain more about the event in Banjska.
He adds that this story cannot be closed only because one person has claimed responsibility for the attack on Kosovo police.
“Those who are not Western friends are interested in causing problems in the Balkan region, as is Russian President Vladimir Putin in this case. It aims to extend its influence in Bosnia and prevent the flow of the dialogue process between Kosovo and Serbia. What we saw in Banjska was very dangerous, all that weapons had been introduced inside Kosovo's territory, so the consequences could be much bigger. We need to know who financed those paramilitaries, who supplied them with weapons and how they entered Kosovo's terror. Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq is tasked with explaining these issues. It cannot end the event in Banjska only after a person claimed responsibility for the pre-milial attack, there are still a lot of unuttered”, says Shea.
But Shea, doesn't see Serbia as a state controlled by Russia. According to him, relations between both countries are far more complex than that.
I think relations between Serbia and Russia are very complex. Of course, Russia has influence of Serbia, especially in the energy sector and the business sector. Serbia still continues to buy weapons from Russia, but believe it or not Serbs have done some important things to help Ukraine. Among other things, remember the fact that Serbia is negotiating to become members of the European Union. So I don't see Serbia as a puppet state of Russia, because I think their relations are much more complex than that. A day will come that Serbia will eventually choose which way to continue”, he estimates.
Serbia's Foreign Minister, Ivica Dacic, has reacted sharply to British Foreign Secretary David Cameron, who during the visit to Pristina declared Great Britain will help Kosovo get new recognitions.
