The Serbian opposition leader had been released from custody Monday, as he has said, the Belgrade Secret Service has beaten, tortured, humiliated and threatened to kill him and his family.
Nikola Sandulovic spoke for the first time after being seen in serious health. He said he was taken from his house 10 days ago and was brutally beaten for more than six hours by intelligence service, Guardian reported.
As a result of the violence, his lawyers have said Sandulovic has remained paralyzed on his left side and has suffered nervous damage.
I was kidnapped by members of the Serbian secret police who for six hours beat me, tortured, humiliated and threatened to kill me and my family, risking not only my health but also my”, Sandovitch said.
All because of my political stance and the sending of flowers to the tomb of a murdered 7-year-old girl belonging to the Jashari” family.
Sandulovic has been charged with violations of the law, that he has sparked national, racial and religious hatred.
The charges were raised after he apologised for crimes committed by Serbs against Albanians during the 1998-1999 Kosovo war. He has been sharply criticised for reposting a video where he had visited the tomb of Adem Jashar, the key founder of the Kosovo Liberation Army, who was killed by Serbian police in 1998 along with 57 members of his family.
Sandulovic has said that after the attack, police instead of sending him to prison were sent to an emergency because his situation “was critical”.
The Serbian Intelligence Agency (BIA) has confirmed that it has questioned Sandulovici, but has denied that he used force over it.
