About 61 thousand visits of patients with seasonal flu have attended the Family Medicine Centres in the Pristina municipality. That is how the director of health, Izet Sadiku, has made it known.

According to Sadik, three types of flu are circulated in Kosovo, and that Covid-19 is still present.

Sadiku has said that in two weeks of January, the QMFs in the capital have provided 200 thousand services -- a huge increase compared to December.

“We have a huge number of you edini epidemics that last week the Health Ministry has announced at the recommendation of the IKCPK as the condition of the flu epidemic in Kosovo, and actually according to information in Kosovo, three viruses, flu virus, then Covid-19, and the virus known in the population as swine flu virus and we have had three viruses running through the opinion, and that has contributed to the increase in the flow of patients and their demand for medical services”, Sadik stated.

Due to the large number of patients, Sadiku says that staff is also overloaded because of the small number of health workers.

I'm telling you that in just 14 days, we've had 61 thousand visits in the capital, or about 200 thousand medical services in the 14 days that I've only been going to compare it to December 15 percent more than December, we've had demands that we have an increased influx of patients who are the majority of them as a result of the outbreak of flu, and there's an impact here that our staff is driven by and you know that unfortunately Pristina is acceptable. A public secret is that Pristina has a small number of health workers, the number of health workers is the same since 2000, so we know how different the number of residents in Pristina has changed, and that staff that is in Pristina today is based on the 2011” population census, Sadiku said.

Sadiku considers the project to register patients for a family doctor. He has invited citizens to enroll, otherwise they will not be able to receive medical services.

The Health Ministry has launched a pilot project for the patient's family doctor registration this year. In Pristina, it's happening in two neighborhoods, in Dardan and Sun Coast, and it's inviting through you citizens who enrolled me with the family doctor because if they don't assign a family doctor, they can no longer get services. Therefore, citizens who are non-resident in Pristina who live in Pristina have a place to stay, but all services are taken in Pristina for the moment that has been registered as residents of Pristina, if they want the future to receive medical services in Pristina”, he said.

Due to the retirement of staff, the Pristina municipality has managed to employ 30 health workers, half doctors and half other nurses.

The number since 2000. He's got the same staff, we're all trying to do now is have a new staff admission competition based on how much they retired. We have a number of staff retired during the year, and this number, which has retired in 2023, has opened a competition and we have taken 15 new doctors and taken about 15 nurses”, Sadiku stressed.
