Russia's state news agency “Tass” has published a statement by Russia's Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, on January 17th, saying that the United States of America is arming Pristina's <x2x3> illegal security structures with the sale of anti-antatic missiles “Javelin”.
These false claims Zakharova made public on January 17th, after being given news by the US State Department that the US has agreed to sell Kosovo antitank missiles “Javelin”.
And it was not late for the Serbian-language medium “Kosovo Online” to publish this later.
What did Zakharova say?
“The creation of parallel security structures, which Pristina and its patrons, including the United States, call an army, aim to serve a completely different goal of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti's nationalist ambitions... And now Washington wants to give more serious weapons to Kosovo's Radicals, who, according to the United States of America, should help strengthen their so-called independence”.
Analysis:
Zakharova constantly makes statements against Kosovo's citizenship that are in the same line as Belgrade, especially when these linked to the aid the United States gives to a democratic state like Kosovo.
But after a verification, it is noted that the facts stand differently and that Zakharova's statement is dezinfruit.
October 18, 2018 Kosovo's Assembly has in principle adopted the three bills proposed by the government to turn the Kosovo Security Force into a regular army. (https://gzak.rks-gov.net/AccumentDetail.spx?ActID=18375)
On that date, the Kosovo Parliament, with 106 votes for -- a abstention -- out of 120 MPs as far as the Parliament has -- passed three laws changing the mandate of the Kosovo Security Force (FSK) in the Kosovo Army, but without changing its name.
NATO Joint Forces Commander in Naples James Foggo, then said that “Interformation of the Kosovo Security Forces, is a sovereign decision from a democratic state such as Kosovo”.
Since 2008, the Kosovo Army has been consolidating and this process is scheduled to last for 10 years, reports Thegeopost.
