Alsu Kurmasheva receives letters to prison from family, friends, colleagues and foreigners but, sometimes, weeks pass before those go to her cell where she is being held in custody in the Russian city of Kazan.
On January 13th, Radio Free Europe's journalist wrote that she has accepted a large package of cards, following a long reception in the winter vacation period.
It was very difficult for me, without to”, she wrote. “To be honest, all this [state] is becoming unbearable”.
On January 25th, 100 days since Kurmasheva was arrested in October, and she has been in custody ever since.
