According to the ZKM communiqué, at the meeting it has been discussed for Article 35 of the regulation that stipulates that the only currency allowed in Kosovo for conducting cash payments transactions in the Kosovo Republic of Kosovo is euros, based on Article 11 of the Kosovo Constitution and the BEC Law.
Kurti at the meeting has said it is important to respect the constitution and legitimacy in the country and also to respect independent authorities in the country like the CEC.
“Set up the main issues of discussion was the one about Central Bank regulation that is expected to take effect on February 1st, with the particular emphasis of its Article 35 which stipulates that the only currency allowed to be used to conduct cash transactions and in the payment system in the Republic of Kosovo is euros, as the only currency under Article 11 of the Republic of Kosovo Constitution and the Law for the Central Bank of Kosovo. Prime Minister Kurti at the meeting stressed the importance of respecting constitutionality and legitimacy in the country by all, and at the same time respecting independent authorities, in this case the Central Bank”, the statement said.
