Pentagon: Antitanics to help Kosovo protect sovereignty, do not change military balance in region

From Washington, the State Department has reportedly made a decision to approve a possible military sale in the Republic of Kosovo's Javelin missiles and relevant equipment for an estimated $75m cost. The published announcement highlights that the Republic of Kosovo has sought to buy 246 Javelin FGM-12F (including 6 flying missiles); and 24 Light Command launch unit Javelin (LWCLU).
“Also included Javelin LWCLU Basic Skills Trainers; Javelin Trainers Outdoor; Missile simulation round; Nature training station (OTIS); battery cooler units (BCU); Integration of the System and Check out (SICO); Life cycle support (LCS); Interactive Autotechnical Manual Javelin (IETM); Operator Javelin's Manual and Technical Assistance (TAGM); tools; Training spear shooters; Training of Mneniton Technical Officer (ATO); Training for the maintenance of the spear; and other elements of logistics and support of the programme. The total cost estimated is $75m”.
This proposed sale will support the goals of foreign policy and national security of the United States by improving the security of a European partner, which is an important force for political and economic stability in Europe, the State Department's report, broadcast Express, follows.
The proposed sale will improve Kosovo's long-term defence capacity to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity to meet its national defence requirements. Kosovo will not find it difficult to absorb this device in its armed forces, the announcement notes.
The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not change the basic military balance in the region.
The main contractors will be Yavelin Joint Venture between Lockheed Martin in Orlando, FL and Raytheon Mississippi and Defence in Tucson, AZ. There are no known compensation agreements on this possible sale.
Implementation of this proposed sale will not require the appointment of representatives of the US government or contractors in Kosovo.
There will be no negative impact on the willingness of US defence as a result of this proposed sell-off of”.
This announcement of possible sale is required by law. The dollar's description and value are for the highest value and value of the dollar based on initial demands. The current value of the dollar will be lower depending on the final requirements, budget authority and signed sales deals -- if and when completed -- becomes clear in this announcement.
