The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and the mayors of two northern municipalities from the ranks of this party have come out against the process of signing petitions, which allows for their dismissal.
That's how the MP has declared it. The PDK, Rashit Qalaj, who said their demands have been for Albanian mayors of four Serb majority municipalities to resign in an organised way and in co-ordination with the government, not to be dismissed from a community, which, according to him, has not participated in the elections at all.
He has said this signing initiative is wrong and should not be considered an option.
“First I want to give a comment on the issue of signing collection, you know that the Democratic Party and the leaders who are there of the Democratic Party are against this petition. They have consistently called for the mayors who are now elected in northern municipalities to resign in a co-ordinated manner with the government and not be dismissed from a community that has not participated in the elections at all.
So I think the question of signing collection is wrong and as such it should be considered”, he said.
The former director of the Kosovo Police has said that during the election process, which will be held after the dismissal procedures, there may be tensions, according to him, raising tensions in the north is Serbia's continuing tendency.
“As for the issue of tensioning the situation, I don't even know there may be local tensions, largely depends on Serbia's tendency, which is the constant tendency to raise tensions in the north”, he said.
Qalaj has stressed that the situation in the north seems calm on the surface, but that in reality it is very tense and that there may be similar incidents, both last year and in the future.
The security situation is a situation on the surface seems quiet, but it is very tense because of the actions of Serbia's state, President Vuciq, in relation to Kosovo, especially in relation to the four northern municipalities. So I think that the situation there is very tense and there could be similar incidents in the future”, he said.
