At the meeting, political and security field developments, common interests and expanding opportunities for increased co-operation were discussed, the Presidency reports.
In this case, excellent relations between Kosovo and Ireland were reconfirmed, while President Osmani thanked Prime Minister Varadkar for his firm support of Kosovo's continued efforts for lasting peace, stability and economic development, the report said.
Osmani expressed gratitude for Ireland's support in Kosovo's journey towards membership in the Council of Europe. She stressed the importance of continuing this support towards eventual membership in the Council of Europe, The EU, but also in international organisations.
“Membership in the Council of Europe benefits all Kosovo citizens and enables advanced human rights protection”, Osmani stressed.
Furthermore, Oman has stressed that it is time Kosovo's reports with the EU should be raised to the next level.
Kosovo deserves candidate status. Kosovo embodys European values, therefore, in this spirit has made continued commitment that our legislation is in harmony with EU laws. It is time for us to get candidate status”, Osmani has indicated.
In relation to recent developments in the country, President Osmani stressed that Kosovo has already made contextary steps in despassing the situation in the country's north, thus naming EU measures unproportional and against Kosovo citizens.
In this context, Osman expressed gratitude for Ireland's stance against these measures and reiterated the call for their removal, because current measures in force against Kosovo “are unfair and create a lack of balance in the” dialogue.
As for the security situation, Osmani said the lack of measures against Serbia in connection with the terrorist attack and the act of the September 25th aggression in Bansjka only encourages it to do similar actions again, which violate not only Kosovo's stability, but the region as well.
“President Osmani and Prime Minister Varadkar stressed the importance of co-operation in addressing global challenges and promoting development in all areas of common interest, with particular focus in the field of education and health”, the communiqué concludes.
