MPJ has said that the head of the Kosovo Liaison Office in Belgrade has visited Dakaj at the Pre-burging Centre in Belgrade, where it is being held.
The Foreign Ministry in the communiqué points out that during the visit that was made today on January 10th, Dajaj has confirmed he is being charged by Belgrade's High War Crimes Prosecutor for allegedly war crimes against the non-Albanian population during the Kosovo war.
Regarding his treatment in prison, MPJ shows that Dajaj himself has shown that he has experienced some physical violence or other form of torture, while he has been allowed to contact his family on the phone.
MPJ has called for citizens, especially former KLA members, to be cautious along the passage through Serbia and have given a number of contacts if they face difficulties along the trip.

Notice of Mr. Hasan Dajaj in Serbia
In regard to the arrest of the citizen of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Hasan Dakaj, in Serbia, is informing you that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspore, the Interconnecting Office of the Republic of Kosovo in Serbia since the first day of Mr. Dajaj has been committed to this case, and today after adopting the request by Serbian authorities, Ambassador Jashari has visited citizen Hasan Daj at the Belgrade Special War Crimes Court's Centre, where Mr. Dajaj is being held.
January 6, 2024, 1600, Mr. Dajaj has appeared before the judges of the preliminary procedure, where he was pronounced the 30-day detention measure, respectively, until February 3rd, 2024.
During his visit dated 10,01,2024, Mr. Dajaj has confirmed that Belgrade's High Prosecutor for War Crimes charges him with allegedly war crimes against the non-Albanian population during the 1999 Kosovo war.
As for his treatment, citizen Dajaj has stressed that so far he has not experienced any physical or other form of torture. Meanwhile, he has been allowed to contact his family by phone.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspore Donika Grovalla, diplomats and representatives of the Republic of Kosovo consistently before the International Community have raised concern over Serbia's actions towards Kosovo citizens and urged them to commit to the immediate release of citizens, Hasan Dakaj, Nezir Mehmetaj and others held in Serbia.
At the same time, to seek responsibility from the Serbian state for these arbitrary and destructive actions and that clash with international human rights conventions.
