The municipality budget for 2024 will be 742.3m euros. Although considered the largest ever by the government, municipal leaders are saying they have been discriminated against, only they do not belong to the ruling party. The mayors of Prizren, Vushtri of the Year, told the Online Economy that the budget is disproportionally divided and that projects sent to Government have not been taken into account.
The first of the Prizren municipality, Shacir Totaj, expressed unhappy with the budgetary division for this municipality, which is also known as one of the largest cities in Kosovo. According to him, this division has shown a non- professional and discriminating approach by the Government.
What needs to be stressed is that we have seen an unprofessional approach of the Government and have seen a discrimination against major municipalities and have seen an approach to those who are small, where the leaders of the Vetvendosje Movement” party are, Totaj said.
He also took an example of other municipalities, which, according to him, are victims of discrimination. Totaj said they have sent many projects to Government and have not received positive answers.
And as Ferizaj, I've been bleeding a cent they've taken, and I think it shows moral a lack as well, so I hope it won't happen again. We are seeing that this is discrimination for the historic capital like Prizren, and this action will be left in history as a bad example. A deal we signed with the infrastructure ministry that's worth emphasising is the deal for the Swiss Agency for cable construction and I want to believe it will be realised”.
Prizren Community budget for 2017 will be 65m 201m and 979 euros.
Vushtrri municipality Chairman Ferit Idrizi said the government has favoured several municipalities. On the other hand, he said that through five Serbian deputies in the Kosovo Parliament, 11m euros worth of projects will be targeted.
“It is now known that some municipalities have been favoured very and few. However, I will go according to the projects through co-finance procedure and I hope Vushtrria will also be part of these” projects.
In the next year, we will apply through the five deputies we have in parliament, three out of the VV, one from the LDK and from the List of Guxo and ask them to refer to projects that amount to 11m euros”, Vushtrri said first.
The complaint about the same decision includes Sokol Haliti, the chairman of the Commission of the Year, who thanked past governance for the current situation in the municipality that leads. Haliti told Online Economy, he said they have reacted to sharing this budget for several reasons.
According to him, Vitita has made efforts to finalise the projects, thanking German, Swiss, American donors and other supporting foundations.
The new budgetwork has shown much, it has been left aside by the municipality of the Year, for which it thanked as not the current government's action, but what was previously”, the municipality declared first.
“We have reacted institutionally because the Year has 100,000 inhabitants, it also extends to the Year-Dylan-Fizaj magistrate, so it can easily turn into a centre that can develop the region I hope we will not face in deaf ears and not a municipality somewhere in the 58.6% budget, one, 82% other, while the year 4 euros per capita is”, Haliti.
According to data on the official website of the municipality of the Year, the 2024 municipal budget is expected to be 16 653,191 euros. / EO
