KDI Executive Director Ismet Kryeziu has said early elections do not normalise the political situation in the country.

Kryeziu wrote on Facebook that elections are a challenge to bring “sustainable political and development solutions”.

“A normalise the political situation elections in Kosovo, no. Clearly, elections can affect the political situation, but it is a challenge to make sure that they bring sustainable political and development solutions. We have often had a choice without a solution”, he wrote.

Kryeziu wrote that the elections would be out of order, “anyway if held in the current situation when Serbs do not participate in institutions and the Assostation Implementation Plan is not the responsibility taken by any political party”.

The early “elections without bringing these two political issues to a close will help prolong the political crisis, and in turn we will have the same situation with Serbia inside, in the political discourse for the next 3-4 years. Early elections are an opportunity for political reconfiguration and extension of the status quo for parties, without taking on political responsibilities”, he wrote.
