The Council for Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms has reacted, demanding once again that those who might be arrested not travel to Serbia.
Their reaction comes after the arrest of former KLA soldier Hasan Dajaj from Prizren on yesterday by Serbia.
They have asked Kosovo authorities to provide judicial protection.
Serbia's <x0). Serbian authorities on the border between Kosovo and Serbia arrested former KLA soldier Hasan Dalaj from Prizren, who was not the first arrest and certainly not the last of the KLA soldiers. Four years ago, he was arrested, but with that same pretext, Nezir Mehmetaj, who is still being held in Serbia's prisons. KMDLNj several times through public reactions had demanded that all those who might be arrested not be travelling through Serbia as long as there are many other travel opportunities, without having to pass through Serbia”, the communiqué reported.
In addition, KMDLNJ says Kosovo authorities, unable to provide support for Kosovo's detainees, Albanians and citizens, are enough with public political statements, seeking international assistance.
“The internationals with this case apply double standards, are interested in Serbs arrested in Kosovo, and not in Albanians arrested in Serbia”.
In a concrete case, the arrest of Hasan Dajaj Kosovo authorities must ensure judicial protection and provide materially for the family and arrested during visits to the arrested member and stay in Serbia. Kosovo authorities should ask the internationals, the International Committee of the Red Cross to visit those arrested, citizens of Kosovo if they are respected for the human rights of persons deprived of freedom. If conditions are made, KMDLNj is ready at all times to visit those arrested -- Kosovo citizens held in Serbian prisons -- exclusively from the position of human rights watchdog deprived of freedom. The presence of monitors while holding arrests in detention centres even during the trial creates greater security for those deprived of freedom and a more fair and transparent judicial process.”
