A team of interventions by the Interior Ministry and the Albanian Ministry of Defence, along with a team from the Kosovo Mountain Peace Research Service, organised a complex and high-risk rescue search operation near the village of Tea, in the area of Kukes, Albania.
For more than 13 hours in action, it has been located by two Swiss tourists who, as a result of heavy snowfall in recent days, have suffered from avalanches that have caught them.
In the late hours of Monday's midnight, they have been removed from the avalanche by members of the ShKSC, where the risk and the highly inappropriate area of intervention and logistics have made this action very complicated.
Tourists are in stable health condition, suffer hypothermia and are suspected of limb fractures, which remain confirmed by further medical examinations.
Albania's Mountain Alpinism and Tourism Federation reports that following an attempt by Albania's Defence Ministry helicopters but without success due to inadequate Terren and weather, successful intervention by a KFOR task force helicopter was finally achieved.
