Jasharaj: 300 teachers took free break, education sector is jeopardising

The chairman of the Education, Science and Culture Union (SBASHK), Nundman Jasharaj, warns danger of the situation in education, because a considerable portion of teachers have sought free leave for a year.

In an interview for Gazeta Blic, Jasharaj has stressed that the number of teachers who have sought free break is about 300.

It seems that our sector has also been affected by liberalisation. After the media had touched it as a topic last year, we engaged the mayors we have at municipal levels to look a little bit closer and allow us to have figures both informally and unofficially, because the official figures have educational directors, because my colleagues for a free one-year break address educational directors. They're their employers, and we got a number that can't be quite accurate, because it's not an official”, the chief educator said.

According to him, about 300 requests for free break have been made in Kosovo.

The “does not deny that some of them may have other reasons, but the fear of us in the SBASK exists that there may be this call for a one-year break, so that they, my colleagues, can experience fate in both parts of the world and other sectors in Kosovo.

According to him, one of the reasons teachers are seeking free rest is low pay.

“Law for the salary has brought great dissatisfaction to a part of them, but and the decision for the cofficiency to be added only to 5 euros -- from 105 to 110 -- added to that frustration”, Jasharaj points out.

He indicated that the salary hike in January would be around 28 euros. But, he adds, education workers have expected much more from the Law of Salaries, while, in his view, they are working in conditions that are not of the 21st century, working with foam and soles.

Jashar says teachers are vulnerable and unbacked, therefore, he adds, they try to find themselves elsewhere outside Kosovo.

“On the other hand, a long time the teacher's figure has been offended. Some analysts (in fingernails) have given groundless estimates that these are not workers, and they are preparing illiterates, on the other hand there were other pressures, to tell the truth that even school discipline has dropped”, he said.

” The school has remained vulnerable, the unbacked teacher and maybe these people will try the luck of going elsewhere, finding themselves, and this 300 number we have not officially, may be bigger, but that the Municipal Education Directorate have official numbers, Jasharaj said.

There may be a time for the situation to come so that there is a lack of educational framework. On the other hand, from the media readings I've seen and the interest in the Education School has been markedly reduced, which means that in the future we'll have less prepared quarts. And in other schools, I mean in Albanian and Literature, I read that there were 5 to 6 interested people there that is a horror in themselves. If these two things are related to us: very little interest now in the Education School, which produces frameworks for education and other faculties, which produce direct quadrials for certain subjects, and an escape if it gets trended, then we'll have a shortage in the education sector”, chief industrialist Jasharaj said.
