On the occasion of Kosovo's Genocide Memorial Day, Kosovo's “genocidal centre -- Open wound” has called on citizens to make candle lighting in Kosovo on January 15th, 2024 -- a reminder of the victims of genocide.
The candlelight will take place in “Square Skrkoreu” in Pristina.
Let's commemorate that the year 2024 marks a quarter of a century of genocide over Kosovo Albanians, which Serbian forces have implemented during the last war”, the communiqué sent from this centre says.
“As we have called on earlier, we take the opportunity once again to invite Kosovo's central and local institutions, political parties, nongovernmental organisations and all citizens, so that this quarter of genocide over our people can be reckoned with as dignifiedly, showing high state and civic responsibilities”.
On January 15th, the very day Kosovo's Assembly has appointed as the day of commemoration of genocide victims in “Square. Skenderbeu” in Pristina, activists at the “Genocide Centre in Kosovo { Open Wound” will make candle lighting. Citizens of Pristina are invited to join this event”, the communique says.
Citizens of other cities with self - help can make candle lighting in the main squares of their cities and villages.
The self-initive organisation of citizens in cities outside of Kosovo's borders is welcome, so we invite all Albanians wherever they are to do the honour of genocide victims on January 15th, 2024, from 7:30x1>, it is said further.
Those who can't get out, do this on their balconys or windows.
Also, we invite all Albanians around the world at 7:30, according to their local time, to make the lighting of candles on balconys and windows in honour of genocide victims in Kosovo”, this centre adds.
We also have nongovernmental organisations, especially those that focus on their activity have the issue of war victims associated with this memorial activity.
The commemoration of Kosovo's Genocide victims is the least we have to do on our journey to triumph of justice and punishment of crime!”, said at the end of this communique.
