A young Iraqi professor has been detained by Croatian border police, as the same one had illegally entered there.
According to Croatian media “Jutarnji”, Iraqi math professor Muhammad A. F. (26), as illegal at Bayakova's border checkpoint, was caught in the bathroom, where he sought refuge from Croatian police officers.
Upon capture, he had presented an identification of the Republic of Kosovo named Valdrin.
“at the same time, he has attempted to identify with someone else's document ] ID of the Republic of Kosovo by the name of Valdrin Z”, has reported “Jutarnji”, broadcast Clankosova.tv.
Finally, instead of going to Switzerland, he initially ended up in custody and was convicted of misusing the identity document.
The prosecution in a very short time filed charges against the professor, and the court also quickly sentenced him with the prosecution's proposal by criminal order, and the sentence is conditional on five months in prison with a one-year trial period. It should also pay 66.36 euros in judicial spending.
In his defense, he has described that a year ago he came to Kosovo from Iraq, from where he arrived in Serbia illegally, without showing any documents.
I also came to Croatia. And the whole trip was organized for me to Kosovo and I wanted to go to Basel. The driver who took me to Serbia has given me ID on behalf of Valdrin, but the name I don't know. I came to Croatia with the help of a guide in the woods. Afterward, the driver showed me the car I had to get into. Once in the car, the driver shouted: Police! Get out of the car and run to the bathroom! And I did that. I went to the bathroom where the police came in too soon and knocked on the door. I went out and, at their request, gave them someone else's ID as mine”, declared young Iraqi.
