Nikola Sandulovic, leader of the Republika Srpska Party, was arrested 10 days ago after being violated for more than six hours by the Serbian intelligence service. As a result, his lawyers said, he remained paralyzed on the left side and suffered nerve damage. His wife recently placed a picture where the politician [...]
His wife recently distributed a photo, where the Serbian politician is seen lying on the bed, where on his right arm he seems to have medical equipment.
Sandulovic has been charged with violations of laws barring the instigation of national, racial and religious hatred.
The charges were filed after he apologised for crimes committed by Serbs against ethnic Albanians during the Kosovo war for independence in 1998 and 1999. He has been sharply criticised by the pro-government media for restoring a video of a visit he paid to the tomb of Ademi Jashari, founder of the Kosovo Liberation Army, who was killed by Serb forces in 1998 along with 57 members of his family.
Sandulovic's release came after opposition parties in Serbia were prompted by a discussion in the European Parliament in Strasbourg on charges that the recent elections were manipulated in favour of President Aleksandar Vucic's SNS, an indictment Vucic denies.
The other day he even gave an interview for The Guardian, where, among other things, he said: I was kidnapped by members of the Serbian secret police who beat me, tortured me, humiliated me, and threatened to kill me and my family for more than six hours, endangering not only my health but my life. All because of my political expression and the act of putting flowers on the grave of a seven-year-old girl who belonged to the Jashar family. )
