At the Butmir base near Sarajevo, the handover of EUFOR command will take place today, and the leadership will receive Hungarian General Laszlo Sticz.
The Hungarian general will take over command from Major General Helmut Habermayer and will attend the ceremony a significant number of prominent diplomats, as well as Bosnian and Herzegovina officials.
By the way, Major General Laszlo Sticz has performed a series of military functions in the Hungarian Army for a long time. During 1999, he was assigned to the Main Staff of the Hungarian Army, where he served as an officer in positions in the field of defence planning.
He gained experience in the mission as an operational officer at the NATO Joint Operational Centre in Kosovo and expanded his knowledge of the planning of international forces under the Allied SEE Transitional Command ( SHAPE, Belgium) between 2003 and 2006.
After returning to Hungary, he used his international experience in planning at the Ministry of Defence.
Military danger is secondary. The EU mission will intervene only if Bosnian police cannot secure peace. But the situation can escalate at any time, as happened in Kosovo. That is why an international military force, which should be impartial and reliable, with an obstacle if it is necessary”, the Hungarian general said in one of his previous media speeches. /Klux. ba
