Haradinaj at the American Congress: Kosovo membership in NATO means more security for region

Alliance for the Future of Kosovo Chairman Ramush Haradinaj has attended the International Security Forum, which has been held at the American Congress.

Haradinaj has given a security-related speech in Kosovo, the region and the world, as well as Kosovo's NATO membership as a chance for more security. 

“It is time for the democratic world, led by America, to realise that Kosovo's membership in NATO is one of the most important decisions, which would help strengthen security at all levels: within Kosovo, but also in strengthening and increasing stability and security in the Western Balkans and globally”, former Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj has said among other things.

At the American Congress, at the International Forum for Security, I had the honor of addressing me on behalf of the Republic of Kosovo in one word. 

Dear ladies and gentlemen, 

Let me start my word by thanking the honored Minister, Mr. Fatmir Mediu for his great passion and commitment to organising this panel on this subject, with so honoured participants, who have special significance for me at this time  With current developments worldwide.

Since time is very limited, I would like to convey only one message from this panel, which I believe is important, especially considering the difficult and challenging times in which the world is currently going through.

For me, and I am sure that for all of you as well, it is clear that security is a prerequisite for any political and institutional agenda. On this line, we must all be fully aware that security cannot be taken for granted, but we must work hard to protect and preserve stability wherever we are.

Therefore, in the first quarter of this century and 25 years from NATO intervention in Kosovo, the time has come to make some major and extremely important decisions. I strongly believe that full and faster Kosovo's membership in NATO will contribute to overall regional stability and security, and will effectively fight the malicious agendas of others.

It is time for the democratic world, led by America, to realise that Kosovo's membership in NATO is one of the most important decisions, which would help strengthen security at all levels -- within Kosovo, but also in strengthening and boosting stability and security in the Western Balkans and globally.

This decision is nothing less than a deep commitment and mobilization for us, being together in a line to face and fight against the malicious agendas of undemocratic countries, such as China and Russia.

Under the circumstances when a state like Russia committed without any hesitation of aggression and crime against a state, as in the case of Ukraine, and other countries like China that will not hesitate at any moment to support this aggression, we must not remain calm and ] deal with/key jobs as usual, but we should be alarmed about the threat level and these actions.

So let's join in making these decisions, which as important as it is, are at once difficult, and let's stand for what we believe and defend the values of freedom and democracy, as we don't have a second solution or option.
