Gruda, PDK: Transparency International confirmed that Kosovo is guided by a corrupt government

Gruda, today at a media conference, said the lack of political will by Government Kurti to fight corruption is extremely disturbing.

Again and again, international reports are testifying that the Government of Kosovo, through its officials, is continuing to attack justice organs, protect its corrupt people and prevent independent investigations into them. This, Transparency International witnessed yesterday, which in publishing the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) for 2017, has ranked Kosovo 83rd in the world ranking, with only 41 points. So during the past year, Kosovo has had no progress in fighting corruption. The world-class Republic of Kosovo holds the 83rd position, the same as Burkina Faso, South Africa and Vietnam”, he stressed.

The Corruption Perceptions Index, published by Transparency International, finds this very clearly. It says that the government's continued intervention in judicial cases, illustrated with the dismissal of the head of the special police investigation unit, along with the prevention of majority deputies of a parliamentary investigation into a suspected case of major corruption, suggests the political will to give up control and strengthening independent oversight still does not exist, Gruda stressed.

The PDK invites Government to immediately halt attacks on justice bodies and pave the way for independent investigations until the dawn of full truth of all corrupt relatives.

“Therefore, on behalf of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, we call on the Government, just as we have done over the past three years, to immediately stop the attacks on justice bodies, protect corrupt officials and immediately pave the way for independent investigations until the dawn of the full truth of all corrupt relatives, which are numerous, with its officials already involved”, Gruda said.
