He was referring to the failure to implement the Constitutional Court's decision on the Decani Monastery. Rohde said he has the same concern here with his colleague, the chief of the EU Office in Kosovo, Thomas Szunyog, who met with the Constitutional Court yesterday.
This is where my EU colleague's concern. The rule of the law “à la Carte” does not even open the way to the Council of Europe or the European Union! Kosovo's support on its European integration path is warm, but Kosovo must also do its share”, wrote Rohde on X, distributing Szunyog's post as well.
Scharing my colleagues helps here as well. Rule of Law “à la carte” does either without the way towards the @coe Or the European Union!
Supporting on its way to European integration is clearly to our heart, but Kosovo has to do its part as well. https://t.co/CsyhJWGI) Ambassador Jörn Rohde (@German Am b KOS) January 24, 2024
He at the meeting with President Arta Rama Hajrizi has stressed that the Court must be independent and free from political influence and pressure.
“To support the independence of the judiciary, it is essential that government members refrain from statements that risk violating the authority and independence of the judiciary, as well as the public's confidence in it. The Constitutional Court's decisions are fully respected and implemented, including the act of May 19, 2016, in the case of the Decani Monastery”, wrote yesterday Szunyog on X.
The issue of the Decani Monastery yesterday has also spoken to German Eurodeput, Violet von Cremon, reporting on Kosovo in the EP, who said that Council of Europe rapporteurs who came to Kosovo, have been told that the Kosovo government will not implement that decision.
“With the case of Decani that has not been implemented for years and the lack of political will to move forward in this direction, even the opposition of the Council of Europe members, saying that this Government will not do it, does not facilitate the members of the Council of Europe to move ahead with the” application, she had said yesterday.
