The Dutch Eurodeput, Thijs Reuten, has named visa liberalisation for Kosovo an important step, which, according to him, will positively affect strengthening this state's relations with the European bloc's member states.
He has also welcomed Spain's decision to recognise passports, saying it is a good signal that Spain could change its stance on recognising Kosovo's independence.
I had information earlier that Spain was moving in that direction to recognise Kosovo passports, but they were waiting for the right moment to make the news public. I hope the next step from Spain will be the beginning of procedures to recognise the Republic of Kosovo. Not only Spain, I believe, should move the other four non-recognitional states within the European bloc in that direction. I think more commitment is needed by the other 22 European Union states to convince those five countries that have not yet recognised Kosovo's independence. I still don't know the exact date, but I am convinced that those five states will recognise Kosovo's independence”, Reuten said.
